Eurovision 2022: EBU reveals the Semi-final pot distribution; Allocation Draw to take place on January 25

The pot distirbution according to which the semi-final allocation draw will take place on January 25 has been revealed.
EBU has reveal the pot in which each one of the 36 semifinalists countries will be place in in order for the semi-final allocation draw to take place. The event is set for January 25, 2022 at 12:00 pm CET and will be held at the in the historic building of Palazzo Madama.
The iconic bulding of Palazzo Madama was the first Senate of the Kingdom of Italy but in nowadays it houses the Turin City Museum of Ancient Art, sheltering a large collection of paintings, statues, church ornaments, porcelain, and decorative art, mostly from the late Middle Ages to the 18th century.
The Allocation Draw
Semi final voting draw
The allocation draw will consist of two parts. During one part , the coutries that qualify directly in the final , the Big-5 (France, Germany, U.K, Spain and Italy) will find out in which semi final they will be voting. Also Italy will be the only country to get to know in which place it will appear during the Grand final.
Semi final allocation draw – Pot distribution
In the second part of the allocation draw, the 36 countries to compete in the 2 semi finals will find out in which semi final their entries will perform and with a second draw whether they will appear during the first or second half of the semi final . In order for the allocation draw to take place the 36 countries are distributed in six different pots. This is to avoid block and neighbouring voting among countries that traitionally trend to vote each other.
The distribution is operated in accordance to historical voting patterns as calculated by Digame, the official televoting partner of Eurovision. The EBU revealed today in which of the six pots each one of the 36 semifinalists is placed.
The Host Insignia Handover Ceremony
Ahead of the allocation draw the the official Host Insignia Handover Ceremony will take place. In the presence of EBU's Executive Supervior of the Eurovision song contest, the during which the Mayor of Rotterdam ( the previous host city) will hand the keys of the organization to the new host city and the Mayor of Turin Mr. Stefano Lo Russo.
Both the allocation draw and Host Insignia Ceremony will be conducted by Carolina di Domenico and Gabriele Corsi.
Eurovision 2022 live shows
A total of 41 nations will take part in the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin. With the Big-5 countries ( Italy, Germany, Spain, UK and France) qualifying directly to the Grand final on May 14, the rest 36 countries will pass through two semi finals set for 10 and 12 May. The semifinals running order will be decided later in March by the producers of the show.
All three live shows of Eurovision 2022 will be held in Pala Olimpico in Turin, Italy.
