Greece: ERT to select their Eurovision 2025 hopeful through a televised national final

The Greek national broadcaster has opted for a televised national to determine the country's Eurovision 2025 representative.
After 20 years of time Greece is returning to a televised national selection format to select their Eurovision 2025 hopeful according to ERT's official statement.
During the presentation of ERT's program for the new season 2024-2025 Managing Director Ms. Katerina Kaskanioti revealed the the broadcaster will be turning to a televised national final to determine the country's ESC 2025 act.
ERT is expected to open the submission window for all artists that ambition to represent the nation at Eurovision 2025 in Basel while more information will go public in short time.
Greece joins the list of countries commencing their preparations ana selection procedures for Eurovision 2025, a year in which the mediterranean country will be reaching it's 20th anniversary since Helena Paparizou brought the first nad only trophy back home with 'My Number One'.
Greece in Eurovision
Greece made its first participation in the contest in 1974 with Marinela. Since then the country has won one time the competition, in 2005 with Helena Paparizou and her entry My number one. Since 2004 and up to 2013 the country was one of the most successful countires in the contest, having achieved 9 times a top ten placing. In 2016 it experienced its first non qualifying results since the semi final were introduced, with Argo in Stockholm.
In 2021 and 2022 Greece found it's path back in the top 10 with Stefania Rotterdam where with her song 'Last Dance' finish in 10th while Amanda Tenfjord came 8th singing 'Die Together' in Turin. In 2023 Greece didn't make it to the final with Victor Vernicos and 'What they say' .
In the last edition (2024) Marina Satti was internally selected to represent the nation with her song 'Zari' which came 11th in the final.
