France: Louane to fly the flag at Eurovision 2025

  • France Televisions, the French national broadcaster has announced Louane as the nation's Eurovision 2025 hopeful. 

    Once again the French broadcaster has opted for an internal selection in order to determine the country next Eurovision representative. 

    After last year's successful participation with Slimane, Louane has been assigned with the mission to represent the country at Eurovision 2025,  in Basel, Switzerland.

     

    A few words for Louane

    Anne Edwige Maria Peichert was  born 26 November 1996 and is known by her stage name Louane Emera (or simply Louane, is a French singer and actress. In France she became known for being a semi-finalist in the 2013 season of The Voice: la plus belle voix, and is known internationally for her role in the 2014 film La Famille Bélier, for which she won the César Award for Most Promising Actress. 

    On 5 February 2015, she served as an opening act for Jessie J's showcase in Paris.Her debut studio album, Chambre 12, was released on 2 March 2015,to great success. Her single "Avenir" also topped the French charts.

    In 2017, she provided vocals for the track, "It Won't Kill Ya," from The Chainsmokers' debut album, Memories...Do Not Open. On 1 September 2021, for Pokémon 25, she released the song "Game Girl", whose name is a pun on the Game Boy.

    Louane Eurovision 2025 entry is expected to premiere in the following weeks, while she will be competing straight to the Grand Final on May 17, 2025. 

     

    France in Eurovision 

    France is  one of the seven countries that had its first participation back in 1956. Since then the country has won the contest 5 times. Last time was in 1977, with Marie Myriam and her song L’oiseau et l’enfant

    In 2021 Barbara Pravi won the national final with her song 'Voila' and  defended the French colors in Rotterdam performing in the Grand final on May 22, 2021. The French hopeful almost won the competition finishing 2nd behind Italy's Maneskin with 499 points i the overall score. The next year, Alvan & Ahez won the national final and represented the nation with their song 'Fulenn' which came 24th in the final with a overall score of 17 points. In 2023 La Zarra represented France with the song “Évidemment” in Liverpool. The French delegate finished 16th in the overall result with 104 points.

    Last year Slimane defended the French colors singing 'Mon Amour' in Malmo and achieved an honorable 4th place.
