Moldova: National final of 'Etapa Națională 2024' set for February 17

  • Moldova's broadcaster, TRM, has opened the submission window for the Eurovision 2024 national selection Etapa Națională 2024.

    For one more edition, Moldova will be selecting their Eurovision 2024 representative vis the naitonal selection format of Etapa Națională 2024. Submissions by acts interested can be sent to the broadcaster up to December 22 at 17:00 local time.

    Following the submission period, a committee of experts will assess the entries submitted from December 22 to 29. The committee will shorlist the candidates that will advance to the live auditions phase.

    The live auditions will take place  at the TRM studios on January 13, with the jury picking out the ten artists that will compete in the final show. The jury will rate each of the candidates from 0 to 12 points, those  with the highest scores will pass to the televised live show. 

    The national final of Etapa Națională 2024 is set to take place on February 17. The winner will be determiend by 50% jury voting and 50% public voting.

     

    Moldova in Eurovision 

    Moldova participated in Eurovision for the first time in 2005 and hasn’t missed a year since then. Its best results came in 2017 when Sunstroke Project with Hey Mama finished 3rd. In 2018 the country was represented by DoReDos anf their entry Lucky Day, which finished 10th in the final. In 2019 Anna Odobescu flew the flag in Tel Aviv performing her power ballad “Stay” but despite her amazing vocal performance didn’t make it to the grand final.

    Zdob și Zdub and Advahov Brothers represented Moldova at Eurovision 2022  with their entry ‘Trenuletul’ finishing in 7th place. This year, Pasha Parfeni flew the flag at Eurovision 2023 with “Soarele și Luna” (The sun and the moon). He qualified to the final finishing 18th scoring 96 points.
