Italy: RAI unveils the Sanremo Festival 2025 contestants

The Italian national broadcaster, RAI, has unveiled the contestants of the 75th edition of Sanremo Festival.
Good evening Europe this is Italy calling! The participants of the 2025 Sanremo Festival have been revealed and the line-up for the show that will determine Italy's Eurovision 2025 entry.
The show is scheduled to unfold over five nights with the first show to kick off on February 11 and the Grand final night set for February 15.
The 30 artists that we will see on stage competing in the next Sanremo Festival are:

A lot of returning acts from the past editions of Sanremo are in the line-up while former Eurovision participants feature the next edition. Namely, Francesco Gabbani (2017), Massimo Ranieri (1971) and Francesca Michielin (2016). along with Achille Lauro who represented San Marino at Eurovision 2022.
The schedule of the forthcoming Sanremo festival will unfold as following:
- 11/02/2025 - First Serata : The 30 BIG Category acts will perform and will be voted by the press centre, tv and web jury and The top 5 will be announced in a random order
- 12/03/2025- Second Serata : 15 BIG Category will perform for a second time their entries and will be voted by radio jury and public via televoting and The top 5 will be announced in a random order. Also the First Semi-final of New Proposal takes place
- 13/03/2025- Terza Serata : 15 BIG Category will perform for a second time their entries and will be voted by radio jury and public via televoting with the The top 5 to be announced in a random order. In addition the Second Semi.final New Proposal takes place.
- 14/03/2025- Quarta Serata : All 30 artists perform Covers with the New Proposal Final also taking place
- 15/03/2025- Quinta Serata : Grand Final Night
Italy in Eurovision
Italy has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 48 times since making its debut at the first contest in 1956. After a 14-year absence from 1998 and on, the country returned to the contest in 2011. Italy has won the contest three time, in 1964 with Gigliola Cinquetti and her song “Non ho l’età”. Italy’s second victory in the contest came in 1990 with Toto Cutugno and the song “Insieme: 1992”. In 2021 the rock band Maneskin represented the nation on Rotterdam where they triumphed with their song 'Zitti e Buoni' bringing the Italy.
Italy’s come back to the contest has proved to be very successful, the country having finished in the top ten in eight times of the last decade (2011–2021), with Raphael Gualazzi second in 2011, Nina Zilli ninth in 2012, Marco Mengoni seventh in 2013 and Il Volo third in 2015, Francesco Ghabbani 6th in Kiev, In 2018 Ermal Meta and Fabrizio Moro, achieved an honorable 5th place while in 2019 Mahmood with 'Soldi' came second in Tel Aviv. On home grounds the duo Mahmood & Blanco represented the nation with their Sanremo 2022 winning song 'Brividi', finishing in the honorable 6th place while Marco Mengoni made a comeback on the Eurovision stage (after 2013) with the song 'Due Vite' which came 4th in the Grand final scoring 350 points.
Last year Angelina Mango represented Italy at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo with her entry ‘ La Noia’ finishing 7th.
